Kaiser Permanente of Georgia leads nation in seven care measures

In the 2013 National Committee for Quality Assurances Quality Compass, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia led in the nation in seven effectiveness of care measures.

Out of nearly 500 commercial health plans in the nation, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia was ranked highest for: adult BMI assessment, weight assessment for children — BMI percentile, counseling for nutrition for children, counseling for physical activity for children, chlamydia screening in women, comprehensive diabetes care blood pressure control less than 140/80 and comprehensive diabetes care blood pressure control less than 140/90.

Kaiser Permanente was also ranked highest in Georgia, among commercial plans, for breast cancer, cervical cancer and colorectal cancer screening. To further its commitment to fighting cancer, Kaiser Permanente recently launched kp.org/cancercare, available in both English and Spanish.

The new website highlights the organization’s unique approach to overcoming cancer through earlier detection, excellent personalized care delivered with compassion, leading-edge research and technology, and lifestyle coaching.

This recognition by NCQA is just the latest in a string of accolades Kaiser Permanente of Georgia has received in past several weeks. In mid-September, the NCQA listed Kaiser Permanente of Georgia as the top-ranked commercial and Medicare health plans in the state and among the top 20 in the nation.

“Our top rankings reflect Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to preventive medicine and the dedication of our doctors and care teams to provide the best care possible,” said Rob Schreiner, M.D., executive medical director of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia, which cares for more than 238,000 members. “We’re leading the nation in these measures as a result of our coordinated, patient-centered approach to care and our commitment to continuously improve. All of our caregivers — physicians, nurses, managers and frontline staff — apply best practices that help us keep our members healthy.”
