New senior living community welcomes visitors

by Clay Neely

Wendell Reynolds, executive director of Somerby of Peachtree City, was on hand last week to deliver an informative presentation at the East Coweta Senior Center in regards to the new facility that is presently under construction.

While construction is still under way, Somerby will be providing “Dusty Shoe” tours for all interested parties. Visitors are welcomed to make a reservation for the tours which will be taking place from 12:30-1:30 every Wednesday until the end of August.

“It’s hard to talk about it without actually seeing it,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds also elaborated on the Masterpiece Living® philosophy that Somerby embraces. Based on findings from a 10-year study by the MacArthur Foundation, Masterpiece Living, in partnership with the Mayo Clinic, is an exclusive, groundbreaking approach to a lifestyle of wellness.

Reynolds clarified the approach. “No matter where a resident lives in our community, we’ve charged ourselves with fulfilling our mission by making sure each person has the opportunity to be as engaged and energetic as they want to be.”

Reynolds cited data that showed that in order to get someone involved in the community; they have to be the originators, not the recipients of activities.

“We want to find the purpose that drives you and makes you a part of the community.

The target date for opening is currently Fall of 2013.
