Batson-Cook wins honors for CTCA

Batson-Cook Construction was recently honored by the Association of General Contractors of Georgia for its work on the Cancer Treatment Centers of America facility in Newnan and two other projects.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and SkyHouse Midtown earned Best in Class in their respective construction groups in the annual Build Georgia Awards. SkyHouse Midtown also earned first place in the sustainable building practice group.

“Batson-Cook Construction has been fortunate to work with visionary teams on both Cancer Treatment Centers of America and SkyHouse Midtown,” said Randy Hall, CEO, Batson-Cook Construction. “We are humbled by the recognition and want to thank AGC for the honors.”

Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center is a 226,000-square-foot, fully-digital cancer treatment health care facility that Batson-Cook Construction delivered in 55 weeks. The project included a residential tower for outpatients and their guests.

The Energy Star-certified SkyHouse Midtown is a 23-story, 320-unit luxury high-rise apartment building in Atlanta. The project, a joint-venture between residential multi-family developer Novare Group and Batson-Cook Construction sister company, Batson-Cook Development Company, was delivered in just 52 weeks using lean construction techniques.

ACG also named the 38,000-square-foot Benton House Brunswick a Merit Award Winner. The upscale assisted living facility has 43 residential units and 12 memory care units.

The 24th Annual Build Georgia Awards recognizes the most innovative construction companies in the state. The awards are organized by ACG, the statewide construction industry trade association. A selection committee chose the winners from ACG member projects completed in 2012.

Batson-Cook Construction, founded in West Point in 1915, was ranked 9th in Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2013 Atlanta Top 25 Commercial Contractors. The listing is based on Georgia contract revenue.

Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology opens

Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology P.C., owned and operated by David T. Harvey, MD, has opened and provides state of the art dermatology services in Coweta.

Harvey, a transplant dermatologist from east Texas, opened the practice in early July. He is attempting to bridge the gap between dermatology and plastic surgery.

Harvey chose Coweta to open his practice because of its reputation as "the new mecca of the southeast" for health care.

The focus of his upscale practice is to take a personal and sincere interest in each patient.

“By sitting down and actually listening to what patients are saying, we are able to evaluate and treat in a highly competent, caring and professional manner," Harvey said.

With services including Mohs surgery, a special skin cancer removal procedure, to laser eyelid surgery and Botox injections, the staff at SCD provides patients with the necessary insights to make informed decisions. The practice employs technologies such as Smartlipo, fractional CO, laser and photodynamic therapy.

SCD is located at 60 Oak Hill Boulevard, across from the Newnan VA clinic.
