Development Authority pleased with Taste of Newnan revenues

October’s “Taste of Newnan” was a smash hit, producing revenues of more than $32,000, according to Main Street Newnan Director JoAnn Gentry, who announced the figures at Wednesday’s meeting of the city of Newnan Downtown Development Authority.
“We couldn’t be happier with the results,” Gentry said, adding that the crowd for the event was estimated at more than 7,000.
In other business:
• The authority approved the September financial report.
• Gentry reported that maps to be placed on kiosks around downtown are being drafted and are expected to be ready for display and discussion at the next authority meeting. It had previously been decided that the kiosk map would include city parks and landmarks and include a grid allowing viewers to easily locate places.
• Authority member Ray DuBose proposed that the current slate of authority officers be nominated to keep their same positions during 2013. The present slate of officers is: Casey Smith, chairperson, Ray DuBose, vice chairperson and Graylin Ward, secretary.
A motion to nominate the 2013 slate of officers as proposed was approved.
