Youth Wrestling: Cobras qualify for state events

The Coweta Cobras youth wrestling club qualified seven athletes at its recent state qualifier at McIntosh High School. Four Cobras will compete in today’s Little Kids Tournament at Pickens High while two others compete in Sunday’s Girls State Tournament. The Coweta Cobras youth wrestling club will have four athletes competing at state tournaments this weekend after advancing on Feb. 23 at the state qualifying tournament at McIntosh. 
Austin Whitten qualified first in the 12-under, 95-pound division and competed at last weekend’s Big Kids State Tournament at Parkview High while four others will head to respective state events today and Sunday. 
Jordan Trask, Tyren Brown, Blake Hester and Steve Hodges will compete in today's Little Kids State Tournament at Pickens High.
Trask finished first in the 8-under, 68-pound qualfier with four wins, three of which came by pin. Brown finished second at the 8-under, 57-pound division with two wins including a tech fall. 
Hester placed third in the 8-under, 60-pound division with three wins while Hodges was third in the 6-under, 49-pound class. 
The Cobras will be represented at Sunday's Girls State Tournament at Peachtree Ridge High School by Dessiana Brown and Alana Finlay.
