MS Basketball: Heritage School boys to play for title

The Heritage School's undefeated boys middle school team is a victory away from a MAC league championship today.

The Hawks defeated Youth American Christian 57-21 on Thursday night to move into this afternoon's MAC Championship game against Loganville Christian at home.

Both teams have yet to lose a game this year.

On Thursday, Heritage School jumped out to a 22-3 lead after one quarter and outscored Loganville 16-0 in the second quarter. Cole Jones led the Hawks with 14 points and four rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

AJ Gainwell added 10 points and three steals, while Logan Betts and Chase Evans each finished with six points. Evans, a seventh grader, had his best game of the year while adding four rebounds, six assists and two steals. Haydon Stanley also had five points in the win.

Heritage School's girls team was knocked out of the tournament following a 34-11 semifinal loss to Loganville Christian. Kate Everett led the Lady Hawks with five points.

Logansville's girls will play Arlington Christian at 3 p.m. at Heritage School in the girls final. The Lady Eagles defeated Creekside Christian by one point in overtime.
