Braves GM Frank Wren extended through 2014

ATLANTA (AP) – The Atlanta Braves have extended general manager Fran Wren's contract through 2014 and promoted two other officials. President John Schuerholz announced the moves Friday, a week after the Braves were eliminated from the playoffs. Wren took over from Schuerholz as the Braves' GM after the 2007 season. During his five-year tenure, Atlanta has made two playoff appearances but has yet to win in the postseason. This season, the Braves were eliminated by the St. Louis Cardinals in the wild-card game.
Assistant general manager Bruce Manno has been promoted to vice president and will remain in charge of player development. Director of pro scouting John Coppolella has been elevated to assistant general manager. © 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
