Goodman just misses qualifying cut in 200 meter dash

Former Newnan track and field standout Chalonda Goodman, who just completed her track and field career at the University of Texas, failed to qualify in the 200 meters Saturday at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Running at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, Goodman finished 20th at the annual summer track meet with a time of 23.13

Goodman missed qualifying  by 13-hundredths of a second. Jessica Young nailed down the 16th and final spot with a time of 23.0.

The top three in each heat and the best four times advanced.

In her final college season at the University of Texas, Goodman capped off her college career this spring with a trip to the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 meters, while also helping Texas’ women score in the 400 relay, placing eighth in the nation in 45.08.
