Hawks reach semifinals at championships

The Heritage School boys tennis team reached the semifinals at Monday’s GISA Class AAA Team Tournament before falling to eventual champion Stratford. 


The Heritage School’s tennis teams concluded another successful season on Monday following a return trip to the GISA Class AAA Team Tournament at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon.

The Hawks, led by individual Class AAA boys singles state champion Hamza Khan, advanced to the state semifinals before falling 3-2 to eventual team winner Stratford Academy.

Heritage, which advanced to state by winning a Region 1-AAA title, shutout Southland 3-0 to open the tournament.

Stratford’s boys, which finished as Region 2-AAA champions capped off the tournament by defeating 3-AAA winner Brookwood

The Lady Hawks also advanced to the team tournament by finishing as the No. 2 seed in Region 1-AAA while led by All-State singles player Tate Crymes. Heritage’s girls fell to 3-AAA champion Deerfield-Windsor in the quarterfinal round.
