No. 2 Lassiter ends season for Lady Cougars

The Newnan Lady Cougars lacrosse team dropped their opening round game in the state playoffs to No. 2 Lassiter 25-3.

Newnan entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed from Area 1-AAAAAA, while Lassiter is the No. 2 seed out of Area 2-AAAAAAA.

Lassiter has lost to a team from Georgia just one time this year and never let the Lady Cougars get on track.

After the Lady Trojans took the lead on two goals from Anna Abbott, Newnan cut the margin to 2-1 on a score from Savannah Ohliger, but that’s as close as the Lady Cougars got.

Lassiter went on an 8-goal run to go up 10-2 before Ohliger added her second score of the night. Sable Hawkins also scored the final points for Newnan right before the break.

The Lady Trojans then built a 17-3 margin in the first half and outscored Newnan in the second half to advance to the second round.
