Heritage’s Khan brings home GISA state title

Heritage School singles player Hamza Khan earned a GISA Class AAA title on friday in Macon by defeating Bulloch Academy’s Cody Lanier 7-6, 6-0. fellow Hawks singles player Chris Truong and Lady Hawks singles player Tate Crymes joined Khan in earning All-State honors. 


The Heritage School tennis team continued its tradition of bringing home state titles Friday afternoon at the GISA tournament.

Hamza Kham won the individual title with a 7-6, 6-0 victory over Bulloch’s Cody Lanier.

A year ago, Heritage’s Joe Sterrey won the state singles crown for the Hawks.

The Hawks Chris Throng won all-state recognition for boys singles, while Tate Crymes brought home all-state honors for the girls.

Khan rolled through the tournament with straight-set victories his first two matches in the state tournament, winning the first round 6-2, 6-1, and the second-round 6-0, 6-3.

His semi-final match went three sets, before he won 7-6, 5-7 and 6-3.
