Northgate rolls past Mundy’s Mill in 4-AAAAA

JONESBORO — All the scoring was done in the first two innings, but Northgate held off Mundy’s Mill on the road for an 8-4 Region 4-AAAAA win Wednesday night.

The Vikings spotted Mundy’s Mill a 4-3 lead after the first inning, and then pushed five more runs across in the second to secure the victory.

Northgate is in third place in the region standings with a 13-5 record. The Vikings are one game ahead of Union Grove (13-6) in the loss column.

Union Grove suffered a loss to Ola earlier this week to drop to fourth.

Northgate plays Mt. Zion today and Creekside on Friday.

The Wolverines finish their region schedule on Friday against Mundy’s Mill.

Against Mundy’s Mill, Blake Whitney picked up the win for the Vikings, pitching six inning and displaying solid control with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Kyle Feldbauer helped start the Vikings scoring with a pair of RBIs in the first.

James Poropatic and Buddy Green also had an RBI each, but Northgate also took advantage of four unearned runs and five errors.

Rodney Smith took the loss for Mundy’s Mill after getting knocked out of the game in the second inning.
