Trinity takes pair from Griffin Christian

Trinity Christian’s baseball team completed a two-game sweep over Griffin Christian over consecutive days, routing the Crusaders 10-0 at home on Tuesday in five innings while now preparing for Friday’s Region 1-AAA showdown in Sharpsburg with The Heritage School.

Josh Henry allowed one hit in three innings and also belted a home run in the victory for the Lions, now 7-4 overall.

Devin Colburn was en route to hitting for the cycle — had the game continued — going 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple with 2 RBIs.

Kenny Swaggart also went 3-for-3 with three doubles and 3 RBIs on an afternoon where Trinity head coach Brian Chmielewski rested all but three of his regulars.

One of them, Leighton Cannon, finished 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs.

On Monday, the Lions dominated the Crusaders 14-3 in another five-inning game with an 18-hit outburst that included a 4-for-4 performance by Cole Elrod with 3 RBIs.

Daniel Shoates also drove in a pair of runs while earning the victory on the mound. The senior allowed one unearned run in three innings.

Jake Elrod went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Evan Bloom also finished 2-for-3 in the win.
