Hoerger wins Level 7 state gymnastics title

Michael Hoerger of Sharpsburg, age 11, recently won the All-Around competition in the Level 7, 9-10 year-old division while competing for World Xtreme Gymnastics in McDonough at this month’s State Championships in Roswell.

Hoerger, coached by Paul Littlejohn and Drew Powell, won the All-Around with a combined score of 59.0.

En route to the championship, he placed first on floor (10.1), pommel horse (9.6), rings (9.1), parallel bars (9.1) and high bars (10.2) while finishing second on vault (10.9).

It was the second consecutive state title for Hoerger, who won in Level 6 last year.

Hoerger has been participating in gymnastics since he was five while currently spending an average of four hours training over four days during the week .
