Newnan sweeps Campbell in Area 1-AAAAAA action

Newnan lacrosse teams visited Campbell Friday night and picked up a pair Area 1-AAAAAA victories.

Newnan won the girls match 20-7 as the Lady Cougars stayed undefeated in area play, while the boys won 8-6.

The Lady Cougars scored the first 10 goals of the game and led 13-2 at the end of the first half.

Kristal Boyd led the way with six goals, including three in a span of a minute in the first half.

Savannah Ohliger and Sable Hawkins each scored three times for the Lady Cougars. Megan Diebboll and Jacqueline Witt each had a pair of goals.

Dakota Overton, and Rachel McMahon also scored for the Lady Cougars.

Boyd led Newnan with five ground balls and Diebboll finished with five draw controls.

Cougars 8, Campbell 6 (boys): After playing to a 4-4 tie at the end of the first half, Newnan outscored Campbell 4-2 in the second half to pull out the area win.

Zach Keene, Spencer Smith, Caleb McHugh and Austin Ohliger each added second half goals for the Cougars.

McHugh finished the game with at hattrick after scoring twice before halftime.

Spencer Smith also added two goals for the Cougars.

Ohliger also assisted on two goals. Zach Keene and Spencer Smith also had assists for Newnan.
