Trinity Christian improves to 3-2 on early season

it took Trinity Christian only five games to eclipse last year’s win total on the base- ball diamond.

The Lions, under first-year head coach Brian Chmielewski, picked up five scoreless innings from sophomore Josh Henry and freshman Jake Elrod in a dominating 13-4 victory over Harvester christian.

Senior Daniel Shoates finished with three hits and two RBis in the victory, which improved Trinity’s record to 3-2 overall heading into Tuesday’s GiSA region 1-AAA opener against Dominion Christian at home.

The Lions jumped out for four runs in the first and capped off the victory with six more in their final at bat.

Seth Davis had an RBI single and a walk while Kenny Swaggart added an rBi triple in the victory.

Henry’s victory was his second of the season.

LATE THURSDAY

HERITAGE SCHOOL 12, GRIFFIN CHRISTIAN 0, FIVE INNINGS: The Hawks improved to 2-1 as Luke smith, Brian McKinney and Logan Betts combined on a no-hitter that came one at-bat shy of a perfect game.

The trio struck out nine of 16 crusaders with Griffin christian’s lone baserunner coming on a hit batsman.

Smith started and went three innings while gaining a comfortable 9-0 edge thanks to a first-inning rally that included his two-run single.

Trevor Henson got the Hawks on the scoreboard with a 2 rBi hit of his own prior to smith’s single. Brad Macke, who reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the first, also drove in two more runs before Henson polished off his second rBi hit of the inning.

Harrison Holland capped off the victory with an rBi double in the fifth.

Heritage returns to play today in a trip to Golden Park in columbus to play Bes- semer, Ala.
