Sandy Creek tops E. Coweta in walk-off win
The East Coweta Indians dropped to 4-4 overall Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss to on the road to Sandy Creek in a non-region game.
It came down to some last-inning fireworks, but the Patriots used a walk-off RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the victory over the Indians.
East Coweta relief pitcher Dalton Chocallo recorded the first two outs of the inning, including one with a strikeout for the second out before the Patriots lead off hitter drilled a 1-2 pitch for the double to end the game.
The Patriots lead-off hitter also used an RBI double in the third to take a 1-0 lead.
East Coweta tied it when Stephon Cruver drove in Cameron Smith in the top of the sixth.
Smith, Cruver, Matthew Meyer, Bryce Gemmel, Makenzie Martin, Cary Holloway and Devonte Brown all had hits for the Indians.
Despite the loss, Chocallo and starter Mason Meyer had solid outings. Neither allowed a walk in the loss.
Meyer started the game and struck out five in 4 2/3 innings while allowing six hits Chocallo gave up two hits and struck out three.
East Coweta gets back into action Thursday at home against Chapel Hill.
