Trinity boys soccer team out to impressive start

Trinity Christian’s high school soccer season is less than a week old and already the Lions are are showcasing an ability to put up a lot of offense in 2014.

Over consecutive nights, Trinity’s boys lineup earned respective 12-1 and 6-1 victories over Dominion Christian and Sherwood Christian.

So far over a 3-0 start, the Lions have scored 22 goals.

Keith Lyons combined for five goals and two assists over the two victories in a lineup that has showcased its scoring depth as well. Eight Lions dented the net on Friday against Dominion while the team had four different scorers in Saturday’s effort at home against Sherwood.

Jordan Flagg scored twice in each game. Korey McGinnis also contributed goals in both victories while adding two assists against Sherwood.

Will Townsend, who had three goals in Tuesday’s home opener against The Weber School, also had one goal in each game. Teammate Chris Okpara had two goals in the win over Dominion while Logan Smith, Alec Collins and Ben Peacock also contributed to the scoring.

Matthew Buck, Caleb hess and Zach Wiggins had assists over the two victories.

Trinity’s girls shut out Dominion Christian 2-0 on Friday. The Lady Lions lost Saturday’s game to Sherwood 9-0.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday at home. Trinity’s girls will host LaGrange Academy while the boys will host Lafayette Christian, also out of LaGrange.
