Engines fire up this weekend at Senoia Raceway

Area stock car drivers will begin shaking off the winter time rust this weekend as Senoia Raceway fires up their 2014 season with its 3rd Annual Swap & Shop followed by the first on track opportunity of the year.

Open practice will fire up on Saturday at 2 p.m, and continue throughout the afternoon. Fans are invited to attend and grandstand admission is free for all practice sessions.

“There are quite a few new cars and a some new drivers that are anxious to get on the track,” said fifth year promoter Tim Moses. “We have been working hard to get the facility ready to go. We are just as excited as the drivers and fans to get the season under way.”

This Saturday’s activities begin with the 3rd Annual Senoia Raceway Swap & Shop at 9am. The flea market atmosphere will offer everything from ready to go race cars to trailers to all kinds of parts and accessories. Vendor spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 8am. Spaces are $20 each.

“The swap & shop is a way for area race teams to clean out the garage while picking up something they may need to get the season rolling,” said Moses.

The 3/8ths mile track will open up for the season’s first practice session is slated for Saturday afternoon. Drivers in the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models, Newnan Bonding B Cadets, Senoia Drug Company Mini Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Bombers and Modified Mini will rotate opportunities to tune their machines. Practice will conclude at 5pm.

Pit admission for the open practice is $20 with children 12-and-under admitted for free.

The first race of the 2014 season is scheduled for Saturday, March 29th with racing in all weekly divisions. The 4th Annual Spring Fling 40 for the Jodeco Auto Sales Late Models will follow on April 5.
