Northgate drops non-region game at Woodward

The Northgate Vikings outhit the Woodward War Eagles Friday, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 7-3 in a non-region makeup game from Wednesday’s rainout.

Northgate lost the game despite outhitting their opponents 7-5.

With the loss, Northgate fell to 1-5, Woodward moved to 1-1.

Still trying to establish a pitching rotation, Northgate sent five players to the mound against the War Eagles.

Connor Wilson started the game and got the loss after giving up two runs in the first inning.

From there, the Vikings seemed to play from behind the rest of the way.

Wilson struck one batter and Andrew Burden and Blake Whitney each struck out three. Chad Green also struck out two batters.

The loss spoiled a good day at the plate for Buddy Green who ripped a home run and went 2-for-3 for the Vikings with two RBI and two runs scored.

Leadoff hitter Andrew Burden also had two hits. Jason Schmits also had an RBI for the Vikings.

Michael Livingston led the War Eagles offense with a 3-for-4 performance and two RBIs. Drew Mancuso and Jack Stoffer each had RBIs.

Woodward led 3-2 at the end of three innings, but scored four runs over its final three at bats.

Northgate rallied for a run in the top of the seventh before the War Eagles closed out the win.
