Lady Vikings roll past Creekside in 10-0 area win

The Northgate Lady Vikings soccer team didn't let a change of venue bother them as they rolled to a 10-0 victory over Creekside in a game called in the first half by mercy rule on Friday.

The Area 4-AAAAA match was originally scheduled to be played at Northgate, but a wet field forced the game to be moved to Creekside's turf field in Fairburn.

It didn't matter. The defending Class AAAAA champions moved its record to 2-0.

The Lady Vikings have now outscored their two opponents 11-0. Northgate opened the season with a 1-0 win over Ola.

Head coach Bryan Hicks's squad was led by a six-point effort from senior Taylor Hendrix, who scored three times and also added three assists.

Reese Weaver also scored two goals and added two assists while Amanda Ivey also set up two Northgate goals Weaver got her night started early scoring the first goal of the game on an assists from Hendrix and the Lady Vikings didn't look back.

Taylor DeLoach's goal gave Northgate a 2-0 lead when took a pass from Hendrix.

After Reese and Dallas Weaver added scores for a 5-0 lead. Taylor Hendrix added back-to-back unassisted scored to put the Lady Vikings 7-0 lead.

From there, the Northgate kept adding to the lead, converting a set play when Bailey Swindell scored off a free kick from Ivey to give Northgate an 8-0 lead.

The Lady Vikings increased the lead to 9-0 when Kylie Doster volleyed home Ivey's corner kick.

Northgate ended the game with the mercy rule on Ashley Keller's goal.
