Smokey Road boys, Arnall girls maintain lead

Smokey Road’s boys and Arnall’s girls basketball teams continued to hold a one-game lead for first place in the Coweta County Middle School Athletic League following Game 6 of the regular season schedule on Monday.

The Wildcats stayed undefeated with a 31-25 victory over East Coweta while improving to 6-0. The Lady Knights defeated Evans 26-18 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Recapping Monday’s Games:

Girls

Arnall 26, Evans 18: Chasidhe Godfrey and Jeffra’niquia Parson each scored eight points to pace the Lady Knights, who remained one game ahead of Smokey Road in CCMSAL girls standings.

Janyah Stargell led Evans (3-3) with eight points in the loss.

Lee 22, Madras 18: The Lady Timberwolves held off Madras and top-scorer Leia Robinson, who had 14 of the Lady Eagles’ 18 points.

Katie Morgenroth and Katie Lynch each had eight points as Lee improved to 3-3 to move into a tie for third place with Evans.

Smokey Road 32, East Coweta 21: Maxy Gates scored 10 to lead the Lady Wildcats (4-2), who stayed one game behind league-leading Arnall in the loss column.

Meosha Martin led the Lady Indians (1-5) with six points.

Boys

Smokey Road 31, East Coweta 25: Travis Johnson led the undefeated Wildcats with 10 points and Jarred Rossed chimed in with eight of his own in the victory.

East Coweta fell to 3-3 with the loss and into a tie with Evans for third place.

Lee 32, Madras 21: P.J. Harris and Chris Reid combined to outscore the Eagles with a 1-2 scoring punch that netted 16 and 9 points, respectively for the Timberwolves (5-1), who remained one loss behind league leader Smokey Road.

Madras, which was led by Jemariki Cunningham’s six points, fell to 1-5.

Evans 37, Arnall 33: Cedrick Hall scored 11 points and Davey Raines added seven as the Cougars improved to 3-3 and into a tie for third place.

Fernandez Jones led the Knights (0-6) with 14 points.
