Heritage School seniors Tanner Brandner and Jesse Riggs, junior Matthew Harmon and sophomore Gage Warren combined for six school records including two among relays during Saturdays’ GISA State Swim Meet. The Hawks placed third overall among 27 schools. Overall, Heritage teams set 11 new school records.

Swim teams from The Heritage School ended respective 2013-14 seasons with a wave of 11 school record performances at Saturday’s GISA State Meet.

It allowed both varsity lineups to finish in the top-10 among 27 schools represented at Georgia Tech’s Aquatic Center. Up next, East Coweta, Newnan and Northgate state qualifiers will compete at Georgia Tech in Thursday’s GHSA State Preliminaries.

Led by its four-man varsity squad, the school placed seventh among team scores while third among boys.

Hawks seniors Tanner Brandner and Jesse Riggs, junior Matthew Harmon and sophomore Gage Warren combined for six school records including two among relays. Lady Hawks freshman Harper Minor also broke three former marks with a trio of individual finishes among the top 10.

Junior varsity swim lineups equally finished strong while adding two more new school records.

Heritage was most dominant among varsity boys standings, where Brandner and Riggs capped off high school careers with at least four personal bests in addition to contributing to two new school-record relay times.

The Hawks’ 200 freestyle relay placed third in 1:39.91 and fourth in the 200 medley event in 1:52.43.

Brandner, meanwhile, added two third-place efforts individually in the 200 freestyle (1:54.71) and 50 freestyle (23.25), setting a new record in the first and tying his previous record in the other. The senior also was eighth in the 100 butterfly.

All four varsity boys swimmers had at least one effort in the top-10. Harmon led the Hawks with three among the top five in his individual swims while breaking school records each time.

Harmon was led by his third-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:15.74) while also fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:39.37) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.65).

Finishing right behind Harmon, Warren took fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:39.37) and was eighth in the 100 freestyle in 56.81 with another personal best after trimming 10 seconds off his time over the final two weeks of the season.

Riggs also turned in a pair of personal bests to go along with his ninth-place effort in the 100 backstroke (1:07.17) for the Hawks.

Representing Heritage’s varsity girls, Minor also had an impressive finish to her season while establishing three new school records led by a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:08.85). The Lady Hawks freshman also was fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.28) and ninth in the 50 freestyle (27.56).

Heritage’s JV girls placed fifth overall with eighth graders Isabelle Harris, Ella Lawrence and Allie Browning joining seventh grader Lydia Polley for a fourth-place finish in the freestyle relay in 2:10.33.

Browning, meanwhile, broke two of her former school records in the 50 freestyle (27.65) and 50 butterfly (31.47) among a trio of third-place finishes. She was also third in the 100 freestyle (1:01.04).

Heritage’s JV teams combined to place ninth out of 23 competing schools. First-year swimmer Daniel Wellons, a sixth-grader, scored for the Hawks with a fifth-place finish in the 50 backstroke in 37.45.
