Madras takes over sole possession of first place

The Madras Eagles improved to 3-0 with a 22-8 victory over Lee in Middle School football action in a battle for first place in the Coweta County Middle School Athletic League Quarterback Kyle McLaren passed for 174 yards and rushed for 82 with one touchdown en route to the win.

Wide receiver Levi Robinson finished the game for the Eagles with two touchdown catches for 42 yards.

Nick Carter rushed for 79 yards and added a 2-point conversion for the Eagles. Will Horne finished the game with 55 yards receiving.

The Madras' defense was paced by Chase Bevil, who had a fumble recovery and an interception. C.J. Render had five solo tackles.

Lee's Chris Reid scored a touchdown in the third quarter and P.J. Harris ran for the 2-point conversion for the team's only score.

Evans 16, Arnall 7: The Evans Cougars won for the first time this year, defeating Arnall 16-7.

Evans was led by Jaquez Walker's 122 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Hamilton Schubert threw for 76 yards and tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Alford.

Cedric Hall finished the game with five tackles for a loss to help pace the Evans' win.

Evans Zeke MacPherson, James Mason and A.J. Alford had tackles for a loss.

Blake McMahan's 7-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Frederick accounted for Arnall's only score. Brayden Carey kicked the extra point.

In other action, East Coweta knocked off Smokey Road 6-0. No further details were available on the game. The Indians improved to 2-1 while Smokey Road fell to 1-2.
