College Football Kickoff Breakfast to benefit clinic
Nationally-known college football commentator Tony Barnhart will again be the featured speaker at the college football kickoff breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 24, to benefit the Coweta Samaritan Clinic.
The breakfast i s schedu led to begin at 7:30 a .m., at the Parish Hall of Newnan First United Methodist Church with the program following at 8:15.
The event is bring presented this year locally by DTH Expeditors, which will allow 100-percent of the proceeds to go directly to operation of the clinic. In his 37th year covering college football, Barnhardt currently appears on CBS's 'College Football Today,' is a twice-weekly panelist on 'Talkin' Football' on CSS and hosts 'The Tony Barnhart Show' weekly on the CBS Sports Network.
Barnhart's column is featured on the college football page of CBSSportsline. com and he co-hosts a daily sports talk radio show on Atlanta's 790AM The Zone.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, he spent 24 years in the sports department of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, many of those years as the newspaper's lead college football writer.
Barnhart is also the author of f ive books on college football.
Coweta Samaritan Clinic (CSC) provides free medical care to adult residents of Coweta County who lack health insurance and the f inancial resources necessary to receive care elsewhere.
Volunteer physicians and medical professionals began treating patients at the clinic in October 2011. During its first nine months of operation, the clinic screened 458 individuals for eligibility and treated 410 separate patients over the course of 1,630 patient visits.
