Johnson takes car to victory lane for second straight week

Senoia resident and race car driver Tina Johnson had a busy night on the quarter-mile track at Atlanta Motor Speedway, taking part in double features during the weekly Thursday Thunder Legends and Bandoleo racing.

Johnson raced twice on Thursday as part of the Masters Division double features, taking her Legends machine to victory lane in her first race of the day.

Johnson edged veteran race car driver Skip Nichols to claim the checkered flag in her first race.

She then settled for fourth in her second feature race of the night.

Johnson and Nichols neither one went to to victory lane in the second race as Scott Mosley won the event with his brother Spencer finishing second.

In the Banoldero Outlaw Division, Newnan's Alton Clark had his best performance of the year, taking fifth in the first race of the night and third in the second event. Senoia's Josh Hicks was sixth in his first race in the Outlaw Division and fourth in the second race of the evening.

With one race to go in this year's 2013 season, the points chase in the Masters Division couldn't be in closer.

Only four points separate Johnson (858) and points leader Nichols (862) Nichols owns the lead after winning four times this season. Both drivers have finished in the top 10 in all nine races.

Josh Hicks, who is competing in the Outlaw Division for theå first time this season, heads into next week's race. in fourth place (832) 33 points behind Ashton Winger. Clark is in fifth place with 798 points.
