Northgate golf teams advance to sectionals

by Staff Reports

The Northgate boys and girls golf teams punched their tickets to the Class AAAAA state sectionals next month with a solid performance at the Region 3-AAAAAA tournament.

Playing at Georgia National in McDonough, the girls fired an overall score of 300, while the boys finished with a 328.

Haley Grant, Ashton Thompson and Kelly Henderson led the girls team, while the boys were led by Maddux Lytle, Bo Weizkum, Daniel Salvatore and Nathan Garner.

The golf teams will play their state sectional May 6 in Augusta.

“It has been a banner year for us,” said Northgate coach Kevin Jeffers. “We are young, but we have had some big matches."
