Prep Lacrosse: Smerka's four goals help Vikings down Grady

Northgate senior Jake Smerka scored four goals, three in the final two quarters, to help lead the Vikings to a 10-5 Area 1-AAAAA/A lacrosse victory over Grady on the road Friday.
Senior Gage Wozniak’s goal with 3:07 left in the second period gave the Vikings a 4-3 halftime lead and Smerka, senior Cameron Wilson and sophomore Jeff Sargent added three unanswered goals over a five-minute span of the third to break a final deadlock.
Northgate junior Mitchell Hutton added two goals in the victory.
Ahead 7-5 entering the final period, Northgate outscored Grady 3-0 over the final quarter with senior goalie Devan Johns holding Grady to just a pair in the second half while finishing with 12 saves.
Smerka added a team-high seven ground balls in the victory.
Northgate 10, Grady 5
