Prep Basketball: Lady Hawks fall to Loganville in region finals

MARIETTA —The Heritage School girls basketball team's hopes of capturing the GISA Region 1-AAA title ended Thursday night, falling to Loganville Christian 42-35 in the championship game.
Loganville Christian built a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and pushed it to 23-17 at the break.
Maggie Crosby led the offensive attack for the Lady Hawks hitting on 4 of 9 shots from the field, including two from 3-point territory to finish with 12 points. She also converted two of three free throws, but it was not enough for the Lady Hawks to overcome the effort by Loganville Christian who outscored Heritage School 20-18 in a close second half.
Heritage School only committed 15 turnovers and pulled down 34 rebounds in Thursday's championship game.
Chase Parker and Elizabeth Massenburg each had nine points for the Lady Hawks. Parker also added seven rebounds and Crosy six.
Heritage School earns the second seed going into next week's Class AAA Class AAA state tournament.

The Lady Hawks set up Thursday's game against Loganville Christian with a 30-14 victory over Atlanta Girls School Wednesday night.

Loganville Christian pulled off an upset against Holy Spirit, winning the game in the semifinals 40-30.

Heritage School hurt its chance to pull out a victory against Loganville Christian by hitting just two of 12 shots from 3-point territory.

The Lady Hawks were just 13 of 68 from the field in Thursday's loss.
