Trinity Christian’s girls basketball team closed out its home schedule with an impressive 43-21 Region 1-AAA victory over The Weber School on Thursday behind a pair of double-doubles by Sara Bryan and Ashley Caldwell.
Celebrating Senior Night, the Lady Lions’ duo combined for 38 points while each pulled down 11 rebounds in the victory and improving to 4-4 in region play.
Bryan led Trinity Christian's girls with 22 points to go with six steals while Caldwell had 16 points and seven steals.
Trinity Christian’s boys nearly completed a region sweep only to see Weber cut short a second-half comeback in a 48-46 loss to deny the school its first victory in 1-AAA play.
The Lions rallied from a 30-20 halftime deficit, closing to within five after three quarters and eventually a one possession game in the closing seconds.
Trinity Christian had the ball with nine seconds remaining after Weber hit a final free-throw but couldn’t get a shot off.

“We played them tough,” said Trinity Christian head coach Anthony Lamb. “We’ve been playing a slower tempo and that’s paid off for us the last couple of games. We had a play set up at the end, but we had a turnover and couldn’t get the ball back.”

Lions seniors Tyler Anderson, Thiago D’Elia and Mark Collier all made key contributions in the effort. Anderson led Trinity Christian with 19 points including seven of his team’s 14 in the fourth quarter.

D’Elia added 14 and Collier had six for Trinity Christian, which visits Holy Spirit on Tuesday to close the 1-AAA regular season schedule.
