Basketball Roundup: Trinity Christian falls at Dominion Christian

Trinity Christian’s boys basketball team couldn’t overcome third-quarter shooting woes on Friday while falling 59-44 to Dominion Christian in a Region 1-AAA game on the road.
The Lions battled back with a strong second period to take a 25-24 lead into halftime only to see Dominion (8-1, 1-0) storm out of the break and outscore Trinity Christian 25-6 in the third quarter.
Thiago Roig led Trinity Christian with 16 points and Avery Braxton added nine in the loss. The Lions fell to 1-7 and 0-2 in 1-AAA.
Trinity Christian will resume play after Christmas on Dec. 27 at The Heritage School’s holiday tournament.
BOYS – Potters House (Fla.) 74, Landmark Christian 53
On the road at the Kiwanis Christmas Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., the War Eagles ran into a strong out-of-state opponent despite 18 points from Justin Ross.
Landmark, which fell to 6-3 overall, will play Union High (Fla.) in today’s third-place tournament game.
GIRLS – Mount Vernon 44, Landmark Christian girls 34
Abby Johns had 16 rebounds in the loss for the Lady War Eagles while teammate Diamond Smith led the team with a 19-point effort during play in the Strong Rock Christian Tournament in McDonough.
Smith also had five rebounds for Landmark, which plays in today’s seventh-place game.
