Gollnick finishes 11th at GHSA Cross Country finals

Northgate High junior Hailey Gollnick capped off her junior cross-country season with an 11th-place finish at this year's Georgia High School Association State Championships held Saturday at Carrollton City Schools.
Gollnick finished 11th overall among Class AAAAA girls in 20:44.24 as one of 15 runners to break the 21-minute mark while also leading the Lady Vikings to a 13th-place finish among 32 schools.
East Coweta's and Newnan's boys and girls teams competed in the Class AAAAAA championship runs. The Lady Cougars placed 24th in team standings with all five scorers crossing within less than a minute of each other led by sophomore Elizabeth Westerfield in 23:25.39. The Lady Cougars were led by Darien Pugh's mark of 24:16.
Sophomore Matthew Miller led Newnan's boys as the top local finisher following a Region 3-AAAAAA championship. Miller crossed in 19:06. East Coweta senior Austin Freeman led Indians runners in 19:24.
East Coweta's boys placed 28th and Newnan 29th.
In Class AAAAA, Northgate's scores also included Erica Lee (57th, 22:05), Taylor Lee (76th, 22:35), Abby Pinaud (86th, 22:47) and Amanda Lee (171st, 24:50), who finished alongside teammate Abby Coe (172nd, 24:51). Also competing for the Lady Vikings was Yasmin Gee.
Newnan's girls had four runners including Westerfield within 12 seconds of each other at the finish. Also scoring for the Lady Cougars were Hannah Hudson (138th, 23:35), Gabby Freeman (140th, 23:36), Maya Sherman (142nd, 23:37) and Caroline Thomas (153rd, 24:11).

Anna Haydon and Ally Thomas were right behind Caroline Thomas while finishing in 24:18 and 24:22.

Pugh was followed by Lady Indians runners Rebecca Baker (163rd, 24:42) and Amber Williams (165th, 24:47).

East Coweta teammates Sydney Bollinger, Anna Weatherly and Bronwyn Barnes all finished eight seconds apart from 190th-192nd position.

East Coweta's boys scorers behind Freeman included senior Josh Bruce, who also finished inside of 20 minutes in 19:55 for 182nd overall.

Indians scorers also included Zack Delgado (193rd, 20:21), Matthew Shumake (196th, 20:29) and Courtlen Burke (197th, 20:31). Sam Siprelle was right behind Burke in 20:38.

Behind Miller, Newnan's finishers included Tyler Vermilya (179th, 19:49), Anthony Galvan (189th, 20:15), Ben Ketelsen (209th, 20:54), Fredy Osorio (21:08), Ty Mossburg (21:20) and Nick Dudek (21:50).
