The Coweta County Middle School Athletic League’s best regular-season team during the 2012 campaign against its defending champion is the matchup for the 2012 football crown.
Both top-seeded Madras and sixth-seeded Smokey Road advanced to next week’s CCMSAL title games following semifinal victories on Tuesday. Madras defeated No. 5 seed Arnall at home while coach Donny Blacksher’s Wildcats upended No. 2 seed Evans 16-6 to reach the finals for the 13th time in 14 seasons.
Smokey Road began the 2012 regular season with a 1-2 following a 42-38 loss to Madras in a wild come-from-behind victory by the No. 1 Eagles, who improved their record to 5-1 after earning a first-round bye last week.
A full story and photos from on Tuesday’s semifinal games will appear later this week in The Newnan Times-Herald.
