Heritage Christian honored its seven senior football players with a convincing 58-12 victory over North Georgia in a Independent Christian School of Georgia and Alabama North Region game at home on Friday.
With the victory, the Crusaders remained undefeated in region play at 4-0 and 5-1 overall while setting up a showdown with unbeaten Praise Academy for the No. 1 seed in the ICSGA 8-man playoffs in two weeks.
On Friday against North Georgia at East Coweta Middle School’s McKnight Field, Heritage Christian jumped out to a commanding 36-0 lead at halftime. The Farlow brothers took turns leading the offense behind an offensive line led by Heritage Christian's other set of siblings, linemen Jesse and Christian Parkerson along with senior Tyler Smith.
At fullback, junior J.D. Farlow rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns.
Freshman Jesse Farlow, starting at quarterback following a season-ending injury to senior teammate Dutch Williams, added a early touchdown pass to senior Austin Reeves, who scored twice. Reeves added a rushing touchdown while gaining 98 yards in the victory.
Fellow senior Caleb Plowman also scored in the victory for Heritage Christian.
Three interceptions by Jesse Farlow in the secondary helped shut down North Georgia’s offense for most of the night as Heritage Christian went to its backup units for most of the second half.
The Crusaders wrap up its non-region schedule next week with a trip to play ICSGA rival Ballard Christian. Heritage Christian earned a 68-54 victory in a thriller last year.
