ALBANY — If there was a night that Heritage Christian’s football team could afford to lose its leading rusher to an ankle injury, it was on Friday.
The Crusaders picked up right where junior fullback J.D. Farlow left off following a three-touchdown effort while cruising to a 76-38 victory over Life Christian to remain undefeated against opponents in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama this season.
Improving to 3-1 overall, Farlow was one of at least four players for Heritage Christian (2-0 in ICSGA North Region) to rush for touchdowns in another convincing crossover victory over a South Region opponent.
Farlow, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores before tweaking his ankle, will have a chance to rest up during a scheduled off week before a North Region showdown with undefeated Holy Ground on Oct. 5 at home.
With Jesse Parkerson and senior Tyler Smith among a dominating offensive line for Heritage Christian, Crusader runners found plenty of open holes. Quarterback Dutch Williams scored twice, as did 210-pound junior Christian Parkerson. Senior Caleb Plowman also ran for a touchdown in the victory with freshman Jared Farlow seeing time late in the game as well.
Senior Austin Reeves scored touchdowns on both ends of the field, one at running back and another when he returned an interception for a score.
Williams also added an interception on defense as Heritage Christian took a 34-12 lead into halftime.
