Outmanned in a season-opening loss, Heritage Christian got a chance to play the role of Goliath on Friday during a 44-12 rout at Harvester Christian in the Crusaders’ first game this year against an opponent from the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama.
Bouncing back from a loss to Hope Christian in an out-of-league game that was rescheduled at the 11th hour, Heritage Christian got back to dominating ISCGA opponents on Friday by racking up more than 300 yards rushing.
“Our line took over tonight. The holes were huge,” said Crusaders head coach Al Williams, whose team led 30-12 at halftime.
A running clock was kept in the fourth quarter.
Junior fullback J.D. Farlow benefitted from the “holes” up front, scoring three times and finishing with 228 yards rushing.
Austin Reeves also scored three times, twice on the ground, while adding 130 yards. He also caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Dutch Williams.
Williams also ran in a score for Heritage Christian.
The Crusaders defense, meanwhile, forced three turnovers including an interception by freshman Jared Farlow.
Heritage Christian (1-1, 1-0 in ISCGA North) travels to Lithia Springs next week to play Colonial Hills.
