Nobody should be able to blame the Northgate Lady Vikings softball team for being exhausted.
The Lady Vikings had to play three times on Thursday in the Region 4-AAAAA Tournament, winning twice and losing once.
Last year’s Class AAAA champions will have a chance to get back to Columbus after earning one of the four seeds at the state tournament.
Action begins next week with a best two-out of-three series. The Lady Vikings are still waiting to see who they will open with once tournament play
Northgate opened Thursday's play with a 12-6 victory over Whitewater and then knocked off Ola 7-1.
In the last game of the night, the Lady Vikings fell to Union Grove 3-2 when Courtney Kenney drove in Haiegh Vernon with a base hit in the bottom of the seventh.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning, Northgate tied the game with a huge two-run homer from Ebonee Echols. Despite the home run, the Lady Vikings had trouble catching up to Union Grove pitcher Megan Betsa who struck out 13.

Northgate pitcher Mckenzie Peace finished with two strike outs.

In its victory against Whitewater, Northgate trailed 3-2 after one inning, but broke it open with eight runs in the second.

Jenna Pealor had three RBIs in the game. Kate Burns, Hannah Edge, and Kagtie Sachs each had two RBIs. Pealor also had a home run.

Peace finished with six strike outs en route to the win.

Against Ola, Northgate pulled away from a 3-1 lead with three runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh.
