Heritage School claims region baseball title

The Heritage School Hawks rolled to a 8-4 victory over Christian Heritage on Monday to capture their GISA region title.
Heritage School finished the regular season with a 16-3 overall record and a 10-1 mark in region action.
With a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth, Heritage School grabbed the momentum with a four-run explosion.
Ryan Lynch and Sam Pulsipher each had RBI singles in the fifth. Candler Rich drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to help pace the Hawks’ inning.
Tyler Nix pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up six hits while striking out eight en route to the win. Mack Wilkins retired five in a row in relief.
Offensively, Nix helped his own cause with a 1-for-3 performance and two RBIs.
Joe Bonner had two hits and an RBI. Rich, Lynch, Pulsipher and Brad Macke each had an RBI en route to the win.
The Hawks took control of the game early, scoring twice in the second inning despite leaving the bases loaded. Rich and McKee singled to start the inning and moved up on a double steal. They both scores on a Nix single.

Heritage School added two more runs in the third as Luke Crook added a RBI double and Bonner singled in Crook.

The Hawks’ quest for a GISA championship begins at home on Friday with a doubleheader.
