Oswald Brothers to sing at Mt. Zion Youth Rally

The Oswald Brothers, who sing a Christian message with an upbeat "today" style, will be singing for a Youth Rally at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Alvaton on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The Youth Rally will start at 7:30 p.m. The three brothers, who live in Duluth, keep in touch with fans through a page on MySpace. They will be bringing their unique style of music to Mt. Zion -- which meets in a building constructed more than 160 years ago -- to kick off a new weekly program for youth.

Kenneth and Tonya James will be leading Mt. Zion's youth group each Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. starting Oct. 17. The James -- and other organizers -- hope the Youth Rally will bring young people from the area to the church, including some who are not already involved in a church youth program.

Members of the band are brothers Zach, Jacob and Nich Oswald. The three are dedicated Christians and have been playing music together pretty much all their lives.

They say their mission is to serve God through music and song.

Zach Oswald, 17, plays piano, backup guitar and lead vocals. He writes many of the songs the band plays.

Zach trained in piano with world renowned pianist Piotr Folkert, a native of Poland who lives in Alpharetta and has performed numerous times at Carnegie Hall and in Europe and China.

Jacob Oswald, 15, plays lead electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass. He helps write and compose the band's songs. Like his older brother, he has also trained in piano but continues his passion of guitar at Music Life Studios.

Nich Oswald, 13, plays drums and back up vocals. Zack Bennett has begun touring with the Oswalds and helps out on bass and backup vocals.

Bennett joined the group when his cousin, Sam Crabtree, who had previously sung with the Oswalds began a new chapter in his life doing mission work in Montana.

Nich Oswald helps his brothers with the composing and arrangement of music. With a background in piano, he is currently studying drums at Music Life Studios.

The Oswalds' live concerts are high energy with a mix of our original songs as well as the latest covers of popular songs youth already know and love. They have played in numerous churches and for youth groups and at various special events throughout Georgia and Florida.

They are equally at home leading praise for a large Sunday morning congregation as they are in leading a youth worship. The Oswalds record their music at Trinity Studios.

Recent bookings for the Oswalds have been in Norcross and Winder. They will be singing at the Buckhead Family Expo at the Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA on Oct. 11 before their performance at Mt. Zion. They are also scheduled to participate in the 5th Quarter Football Rally in Greenville on Oct. 24.

A love offering will be received at the Mt. Zion Youth Rally. Mt. Zion is also starting a weekly Team Kid program for children from kindergarten through fifth grade this month.
