Moreland church takes mission trip to Mississippi

A group of volunteers from Moreland traveled to Mississippi this summer and left behind lots of work that will have lasting value for people in four counties.

From July 13-19 First Baptist Church of Moreland took 37 people to work in communities in the Mississippi Delta. Several different projects were part of the outreach.

There was a construction project at Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower, Miss. Vacation Bible School at North Greenwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Miss. was also part of the outreach. Daniel Ausbun, pastor in Moreland, was part of the group, and took a leadership role in VBS.

There also was some time for fun. The group visited a duck hunting lodge in Schlater, Miss. and stopped at the birthplace of the blues in Ruleville.

Upon returning to Moreland, there were lots of activities and projects at home. Two new deacons, Andy and Brian Latimer, were ordained at the church on Aug. 25.
