Russell to speak at Mt. Vernon Baptist

Minister Nate Russell will be the speaker for Men's Day at Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church on Sunday.

An event is also taking place at the church today. The Mt. Vernon Male Chorus will be holding their Anniversary Singing at 5 p.m. Fish plates will be sold.

Men's Day is held annually at Mt. Vernon. The Men's Day service will start at 11 a.m.

The brother of the late Jake Russell, longtime pastor at St. Smyrna Baptist Church, Nate Russell also is a former member of the local singing group The Righteous Brothers.

He has been called 'one of the best singing, praying and preaching men of Georgia.'

A Newnan native, Russell is the second of 13 children of L. W. Russell Sr., a retired pastor. Nate Russell's wife, Marshay Russell, is from Senoia. Between them they have six children and nine grandchildren.

Educated i n Coweta County, Russell attended AAT in Atlanta and is currently taking theological studi es t h rough Western Baptist Association. He is a U.S. Army veteran.

Russell's favorite scripture is Prov. 3:5-6.

'Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not on thy own understanding. And in all ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy path.'

Russell is a semi-retired masonry contractor. His motto is: 'Walk the walk and talk the talk that God is pleased with.'
