A long-running preaching series has been expanded from two churches to three.
Newnan Presbyterian Church and Central Baptist Church have been holding the series for more than two decades.
The 23rd Preaching Series will be held Feb. 10, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is joining with the other two congregations for this year’s program.
Martha Sterne, writer-in-residence and priest associate at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta, will be preaching this year. She will preach at 8:30 a.m. at Central Baptist and at 11 a.m. at Newnan Presbyterian. She also will lead a service of Holy Eucharist at St. Paul’s at 6 p.m.
A dessert reception will be held following the service at St. Paul’s.
Sterne was a seminary classmate of Allan Sandlin, priest-in-charge at St. Paul’s. Sterne has been recognized as one of the finest preachers in the United States.
Sterne grew up in Mississippi, sitting on porch steps and listening to stories. She went to church weekly as a girl.

Sterne received her formal education at Vanderbilt University and later at Georgia State University and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She has served parishes for almost 25 years.

Sterne has written two books, “Earthly Good” and “Alive and Loose in the Ordinary.” She also has created short photo and video essays sharing sacred stories.

Sterne and her husband, Carroll, have two grown children and two grandchildren.
