Many residents of Newnan Health and Rehabilitation Center cannot easily go shopping.
But with shopping being part of the Christmas season, members of White Oak Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church decided to bring a shopping experience to the nursing center residents.
Church members gave residents the opportunity to pick out Christmas gifts for family and friends through a Christmas Shoppe event on Dec. 8.
White Oak ARP members donated new and like new men’s, women’s, children’s and household items. The donated items were arranged in the facility’s dining area. Each resident was given 20 tickets to “purchase” gifts that had been “priced” at 1-5 ticket each.
Church members enjoyed helping residents pick out gifts for family members and friends.

Each gift was wrapped by a volunteer.

The youngest volunteers helped residents back to their rooms to unpack their gifts.

“The residents look forward to this all year and enjoy picking out gifts for their family – especially their grandchildren,” said Debbie Azzarelli, activity coordinator at Newnan Health and Rehab.

“We are very thankful for these groups of ladies and thinking of our residents during the Christmas season.”
