Dr. Alveda King is one of many Christian leaders remembering the work of Dr. Mary Ellen Strong, who died Dec. 1.
Strong was an “evangelist-prophet-teacher” and “a frequent speaker at renowned ministries including Abundant Living Family Church in Rancho Cucamonga and Hesperia; Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, Word of Faith in Detroit and Nashville, Believers Bible Christian Church in Atlanta, and Norvel Hayes Ministries,” according to Christian Newswire.
“She was a friend and mentor to many, and will be remembered with love,” said Dr. Alveda King. King is an outspoken anti-abortion advocate and has spoken against same-sex marriage.
Alveda King is founder of King for America and pastoral associate for Priests for Life.
King, Dr. Day Gardner and Stephen Broden, pastor of Fair Park Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas are co-authors of “Life at All Costs.”
Alveda King spoke in Peachtree City last year at the Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center’s first fundraising banquet.

Alfred Daniel Williams King, Alveda King’s father, became pastor of Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church in Newnan in 1959. “He only pastored four churches, and one of them was Mt. Vernon,” Dianne Wood of the African-American Alliance said of A.D. King in a 2009 interview.

Mt. Vernon was the first pastorate for the recent Morehouse graduate, and his older brother, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., preached a revival at Mt. Vernon during the time A. D. King was a pastor in Newnan.

A.D. King pastored churches in Birmingham, Ala. and Louisville, Ky. before returning to historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was co-pastor with his father after the murder of Martin Luther King Jr.
