Taylor Drake ordained as deacon

Taylor Drake was ordained as a deacon at Central Baptist Church on Oct. 21.
Mrs. Becky Pruitt was a soloist during the service at the downtown church. The service was one of several special events held at Central recently.
Mark Edwards, vice president of music and worship resources for the “Celebrating Grace” hymnal, made a presentation on the new hymnbook at Central on Oct. 24. Edwards oversaw the music side of the new publication.
He retired as the longtime minister of music at First Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn., before becoming involved with the hymnal project.
Laura Foushee, associate coordinator for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia, spoke at the Purses in the Pew gathering at Central on Oct. 15. The theme was “Empowering Young Women, Future Church Leaders,” and eight women church leaders participated.
