Youngsters share memories of camp

Each year the Salvation Army sends Coweta County youngsters to Camp Grandview.
At the Newnan Service Center’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, two campers – Cole Alford and Cody Earle – shared about camp and how it had impacted them. Their remarks were part of the program at Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City on Sept. 7.
“My favorite part of camp was dodgeball,” Earle said. “There’s all sorts of fun stuff.”
“It’s an amazing week,” said Stephanie May, service center director. May remarked at the luncheon about “how the Salvation Army has touched some people’s lives.”
“I absolutely love camp,” keynote speaker Jim Morrow said. “It’s a wonderful experience.” Nine youngsters from Coweta County went to Camp Grandview this year.
Jimmy Adams shared his own story about the Army. Years ago, he had his wallet stolen while in Nashville, Tenn. The Salvation Army “put me up for the night and gave me a good meal,” he recalled.
Adams said he does not pass a red kettle without dropping something in it – remembering how the ministry came to his rescue when he needed it.
Melanie Feliz, service extension director, said the Salvation Army has a goal to do “the most good in every area of service delivery.”
