Men's Day held at Providence Baptist

A Men’s Day program was held at Providence Baptist Church located on Providence Church Road on Aug. 25.
Master of ceremonies for the program was Rickey Powell, a member of Providence Baptist. A devotional service was held by Washington Johnson, Joe Pope and Rickey Powell.
Scriptures – Old Testament, Proverbs 3:13-23 and New Testament, James 2:1-9 – were read by Alonza Wood Jr.
The occasion, welcome and recognition of visitors were given by James Lenon. Inspirational and encouraging remarks were given by Melvin D. Brittian Jr., pastor of Providence, and Dr. Rufus Smith, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church located in LaGrange.
Inspirational songs were sung by Rickey Powell, Joe Pope, Kevin Bellamy, Leroy Hill, Carlton Kendrick, the Newnan Chapel Male Choir, the St. Smyrna Baptist Church Male Choir, the Men of God and the Sensational Aires – accompanied by Kenneth Cooper and Tarrus Powell.
A praise and dance group – New Generation – performed to songs titled “The Altar” and “Testimony.” Tarrus Powell performed saxophone solos titled “God Is Able” and “Still Here.”
The featured speaker for the program was Graylin Ward, a local attorney and a member of the Coweta County Board of Education.

Ward, who is a member of Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church, was presented and introduced by Dr. Melvin Brittian Jr.

Ward delivered the message, “I Need Somebody’s Help – I Can’t Do It By Myself” with Psalm 10:4, Proverbs 21:17, Romans 12:10, II Timothy 3:17 and Matthew 4:19 as Scripture passages.

Dinner was served in the fellowship hall following the program. Rickey Powell was the chairperson for the Men’s Day program.
