Do you think the City of Newnan should have waited until at least mid-month to begin hanging its Christmas decorations in downtown rather than the first week in November?

From time to time, we like to get on our editorial soapbox and sing the praises of downtown Newnan. Let's do so today.
Downtown Newnan and the Court Square area remain a vibrant, prosperous part of this growing community, even though the majority of the people and much of the commerce in our community have set up shop away from the town square.
Longtime Newnan and Coweta residents love the downtown area. So do newcomers who may live in other areas of the community. When these newcomers discover downtown, they, too, quickly fall in love with the place. They want to come back -- again and again.
And what about visitors to the downtown area? Without exception, the visitors we talk to praise downtown Newnan. They talk about how beautiful it is. They talk about how much activity goes on in the downtown area. They say it's lively and lovely. They are correct.
Thanks to Main Street Newnan and all of our downtown stakeholders, there is a plethora of community activities during the year to show off the downtown area.
One of the most popular of those community activities will take place tonight. It's the fall Taste of Newnan scheduled from 5-8:30 on the Court Square. Local restaurants, non-profit organizations and caterers will set up shop and offer a smorgasbord of food selections. Taste-goers can buy $1 tokens to use to purchase food. There also will be live entertainment and activities for the children.
We highly recommend Taste of Newnan to all of you. It's a delightful evening. You can eat and enjoy the fellowship with local residents and visitors. Also, you can again enjoy one of our community gems -- our wonderful downtown Newnan.
Enjoy.
