Our balmy Thanksgiving weather about to change

So far, Thanksgiving week weather has been wonderful. It’s been warm and dry for our travels and family gatherings. In about 24 hours that’s about to change. Today we can expect another warm, sunny day with a high temperature near 69, but there will be gusty winds up to 15 mph. Tonight it won’t be too cold for the Newnan, East Coweta and Heritage high school football playoff games. But the big change comes on Saturday. If you are heading to Athens for the big Georgia vs. Georgia Tech football game, or if you are getting out to continue the shopping frenzy, expect much cooler weather. The Saturday high is expected to be 52 degrees in the Newnan and Athens areas. Then the coldest weather of the season is forecast for Saturday night. The low in Newnan is expected to be 25. That will mean a significant freeze. If you still have plants outside, bring them indoors on Saturday.
Sunday’s forecast is for a cool 56 high with a low of 28 Sunday night. Warmer temperatures will return on Monday with a high of 62 and a low of 36. Tuesday’s forecast is for a high of 62 with a 40 percent chance of showers. It’s still fall, but it’s time to get the coats out.
