Guns should be legal

I’m a Boy Scout in Troop 897. I’m working on my communications merit badge, and one of the requirements is to write the editor of a newspaper or three other things. I chose this one because it sounded interesting. I wanted to express my opinion on the gun shows canceling.
Do you think that it’s stupid that they are canceling gun shows because the government is worried that these tragic shootings will happen again? I’m sad because of the school shootings, but then the government is trampling our constitutional rights.
I think we should still be allowed to use guns, because people have been fine for all these years until now.
If this goes on, what’s next? They will make other amendments illegal. We won’t be able to practice our own religion, speak freely or anything else.
That’s why I think the guns should be legal.
I’m sure everyone has different opinions, but I support my opinion. I thank you for your time and for reading this. What’s your opinion?
James Campbell, Newnan
